The Museu Vivo do São Bento is an Ecomuseum of Route. The first instituted in the Baixada Fluminense, RJ - Brazil. It was created, officially, on November 3, 2008, from the claim of Education Professionals and cultural militants from the state.
Conceived from the principles of New Museology, it articulates the defense of heritage, intervention in the social, environmental, economic and cultural reality of the territory and the involvement of local communities in these issues, affirming and confirming, therefore, the feeling of belonging and actions of the constructor subjects of his time.
As an Ecomuseum, the Museu Vivo do São Bento is a house where many stories are kept and revealed, and as a Museum of Route, it is visiting its territory and its different temporalities that these stories are discovered.
For more than 20 years, the current course of the Museu Vivo do São Bento has been visited by students, teachers, residents, researchers, Brazilian and foreigners, who, through the different marks left by the men, make an effort to read the material remains and the own territory, deciphering, interpreting and affirming the importance of these places of memory as historical and cultural assets, as patrimony to be preserved.
